New Block of the Month 2010

Oh this is so exciting, our new Block of the Month is going to be a quilt all about value.  I just love doing colors and anything that has to do with color.  Light Medium and Dark that is the question.  I will be doing 2 different quilts one will be batiks and the other will just be scrappy.  Here are the 2 blocks.

2009 Block of the Month Final

This is a picture of our teachers finished quilt top from our Block of the Month 2009.  It came out beautiful, I wish I would have taken more pictures but my back hurt so I really wasn't into it to much.  All of the girls quilt tops turned out beautiful.  We had a great time and with showing all the quilts we had a wonderful potluck lunch that was great.  We always at the end of the year have a little party to show our finished quilt tops.  Lots of the girls had already had their quilts quilted lucky things.  I have two that I need to finish one I need to put the borders on and the other is ready for the frame.

BOM FINISHED FOR 2009

Here is one of my 2009 BOM finished top, I finally got the borders on this particular quilt top really was a challenge.  We learned so much and how to use the tri-rec ruler which is really cool for our sashing.  This was a mystery quilt so we didn't know how the entire thing would go together until last month.  The more I look at it the more I like it, just not sure if it is one of my favorites or not.  We will be starting our new one Wednesday can't wait to get started.

Egg Money Quilt BOM 2010

This is my first block for January 2010, it is from Eleanor Burns Book Egg Money Quilt.  This block is called Road to California.  I'm using a beautiful white for my background, and I'm going to be using all Civil War fabrics.  Here is a picture of my first one.  I will post monthly as I complete them.  It should be fun.

Miniature Quilt 6 X 9

Boy this was a little one.  I love making miniatures and this one is a 6 x 9 the hardest part for me was the binding I think my next one I'll make the binding a little bit bigger.  I cut this binding 1 1/4 inch so after it is sewn it is 1 inch that is really small.  This is a nine patch and I used my BSR on my Bernina 640 for the quilting.  I love the way it came out.

Thread Painting Started

This is for my sweet granddaughter which was supposed to be for Christmas 2009 well needless to say it didn't get completed.  Here is a picture of just the vase being thread painted

First Posting For The New Year

I've been trying to finish up Christmas quilts that didn't get sent out.  It all started when we lost our power and our pump house.  You see we live out in a rural area and right before Christmas when I was on a roll to finish we lost everything.  Then when everything came back on I was so down about it I got behind which I knew I would.  I did finish my 2 grandsons quilts and my youngest son and his wifes quilt, will send that out on Monday the 4th.

I've been working on a new block of the month called Magical Minis it is so much fun.  Each block is only 4 1/2 inch big and there will be 96 blocks without the sashing and borders.  This is definitely a full time project.  Will post pictures of them when I finish my 2nd month.  You do 8 each in a month they are all different blocks I'm really loving this.

I'm also working on my middle sons quilt and have to turn it on my frame to complete the quilting.  Then binding and a label and off it will go so another will be completed.

Then I will start quilting my oldest son which should take me a career because it is also a big one so it will just take time.  I am also finishing my granddaughters wallhanging which is a beautiful vase full of pansies and I'm doing thread painting.

Next my new local block of the month will start January 20th and that will be fun.  I'm trying to also get the borders on my last years block of the month for our get together on the 23rd. So as you can see busy busy busy but so much fun.  Will talk later when I have a minute.
